Description

Tamarack is a common tree in northern peatlands. Tamarack swamps occur on muck or peat and may grade into alder swamps or sedge fens. It is often found with black spruce or northern white cedar. Tamarack is an unusual conifer because its needles turn yellow and fall each autumn.
